AI in Teaching Tutorial – Teaching Inside the Thread: An AI Centered Pedagogy
Thursday, August 20 | 15:00-16:30
AI in teaching raises pedagogical, practical, and methodological questions. This workshop addresses these questions in three parts. The Framework presents an AI-Centered Pedagogy for the AI era. The Companion is a hands-on interface attendees use live to triage a teaching goal, receive a tailored prompt, and engage with a custom AI agent calibrated for IS faculty. Under the Hood walks through the design and build process behind the first two parts, for faculty interested in adapting the approach.
PLEASE NOTE: Pre-requisites include a laptop and a ChatGPT account (free tier acceptable).

Test, Treat, Repeat: Experimentation in Information Systems
Friday, August 21 | 08:30 – 10:00
Across Information Systems (IS) research, experiments (field, online, or lab) are a central methodological tool. Like the IS field itself, experiments are inherently sociotechnical; they rely on scientific methods to systematically investigate social phenomena and their interaction with technological systems. As a result, they play a critical role in advancing our understanding of human behavior. In recent years, scholars have shown increasing interest in how advanced technologies shape individual attitudes, decisions, and actions. Despite this growing focus, experimental research on the societal and behavioral implications of emerging technologies remains in its early stages, underscoring the need for renewed attention to experimental methods. To address this need, we propose a PDS dedicated to experimentation. The symposia will feature a panel of experienced experimentalists who will share insights, perspectives, and practical advice. Attendees will have opportunities to engage directly with panelists, ask questions, and receive guidance related to their own experimental designs and challenges. The session will conclude with an open discussion on the future of experimental research in IS. By including this PDS at AMCIS 2026, we aim to highlight the value of experimental approaches and encourage their broader adoption, ultimately deepening our understanding of the intersection between individuals and technology.

An IS Scholar Construct Development Debate
Friday, August 21 | 14:00 – 15:30
The framework for business communication transparency is new. To further develop this framework, this symposium setting for information systems (IS) scholars is a venue ripe for a survey instrument development process to assess the validity of the framework’s constructs. Specifically, to consider the lawful existence of items judiciously selected from extant literature to adopt, adapt, newly create, or spontaneously develop items for transparency constructs. Even if existing measurement items are judiciously selected from the literature for this effort, issues such as modern language and the measurement of a legitimate relationship, among others, may mask the research results (Converse & Presser, 1986). The components used to operationalize transparency derive from the deductive method of construct development (cf. Clark & Watson, 1995; Hinkin, 1995). The development process begins with a description of the conceptualized model. Thus, in developing a construct for transparency in communication, the construct is defined as the permitted passage of information. The passage of information is measured through a set of qualitative characteristics established to understand the influence and direction of significance in the following measurement items. The method approach in this work includes five steps: construct validation, measurement item pool, iterative review process, construct construction, and instrument test.

Architecture with AI Strategy and Sustainable Innovation for Digital Leaders
Friday, August 21 | 16:30 – 18:00
AI strategies to support sustainable innovation are important factors in enterprises and are critical to supporting ecosystems. Rapid growth of AI technologies such as generative AI and Agentic AI can prompt a variety of responses and concerns within both organizations and society. Uncertainty around concepts of ethical or responsible use, unrealistic expectations and complexity all pose challenges to AI use. Enterprise Architecture (EA) with AI strategy is vital in designing large integrated systems toward sustainable ecosystem societies, addressing significant technical challenges in the AI era. In this professional development symposia, our panel will discuss cases of how the emerging AI technologies such as Generative AI, Agentic AI, Autonomous Vehicles, AR and IoT are transforming innovative organizations and promoting sustainable value chains. Our discussion will examine how leaders design and implement both innovative solutions with efficient processes while maintaining daily operations. Thus, the panelists will discuss the theory, practice, precise guidance and considerations when performing the aforementioned leadership roles and aiming at their accurate directions with AI strategies. This panel of senior IS educators and researchers with industry experience will discuss the challenges and effectiveness of “Architecture with AI Strategy and Sustainable Innovation for Digital Leaders” for the era of AI.
